Quality Assurance

Maccine operates an established and independent Quality Assurance (QA) program.

A detailed strategy of continual improvement ensures constant refinement and inspection of internal procedures. Operational teams meet with QA regularly to discuss audit findings, process enhancement and training requirements.

Good Laboratory Practice (GLP)

Our purpose-built facility was designed to meet GLP requirements, including adequate areas of separation, dedicated work areas and advanced IT support to ensure efficient monitoring and compliance.

Maccine has been audited many times by sponsors and independent regulatory consultants.

AVA licensed

The use of laboratory animals for research in Singapore is controlled by the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) of Singapore, a statutory board of the Singapore government. The AVA enforces standards established from the National Advisory Committee for Laboratory Animal Research (NACLAR) guidelines. NACLAR guidelines for animal care and use are of the same high calibre as those in major western countries such as the United States, Western Europe and Canada. All institutions using laboratory animals for research purposes in Singapore must be licensed and regularly inspected by the AVA.

Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee

The NACLAR guidelines stipulate the need for each institution to establish an Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC). The IACUC is responsible for evaluating all potential animal use protocols and upholding Maccine's commitment to the principle of the 3 Rs:

  • Reduction
  • Refinement
  • Replacement

Members of the IACUC must be satisfied that a protocol has sufficient scientific justification and adequately addresses welfare issues prior to approval.

AAALAC Accreditation

Maccine is one of only a handful of private companies in Asia to be accredited by the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC).

AAALAC is an international non-profit organisation which assesses organisations and accredits those which demonstrate humane and ethical laboratory animal use, care and treatment.
