Singapore, 16th February 2007 , The US-based “gold standard” assessor of laboratory animal care, The Association for the Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC) today bestowed full accreditation on Maccine’s non human primate breeding facility. The cynomolgus macaque resource is based just offshore and complements the contract research arm, located in Singapore’s west coast science district. Commenting on the recent announcement, Dr Bryan Ogden, head of veterinary services for Maccine and President of the Singapore Association of Laboratory Animal Science said “This represents a great deal of hard work by the operations teams and veterinary staff and highlights the underlying conviction in our quality-based approach to research. Maccine is expanding at a rapid rate but we are ensuring this growth is in line with our commitment to care and ethics.” Maccine’s stated aim is to be the leader in non-human primate research. Ogden cited Maccine’s location as the key to the successful implementation of this plan. “Singapore is by far the leader in Asia in terms of corporate governance and social responsibility. It is a country based on quality and innovation - values that have framed Maccine’s development and growth.” About Maccine For further information please contact: About AAALAC |
